“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
The term Special needs describes individuals who require assistance for disabilities that may be medical, mental, or psychological. This can include but is not limited to Autism, ADHD, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, IDD, etc.
This blog is a journal of my experiences working with special needs children and my advocacy in the special needs community. As a middle schooler, I was a teacher aid for 6th graders that were special needs. I helped teach the math class everyday, and this experience drastically changed my perspective. As a result, I started volunteering with various organizations like Best Buddies, Rays of Light, and Learning Ally. At school, I started the Friends Forever club, that helps connect special needs children with students at school in aims of inclusion.
I started this blog so that I can educate and inspire many others and create more awareness on how we as a community can help children with special needs.
Besides volunteering with the special needs community, I love to travel, spend time with my family, (especially my adorable cousins), and do yoga. I am a green tea enthusiast, and Italian food is the best cuisine bar none. I am a rising senior in high school.
